Harry Potter Studios

Hello!

This week I went on a school trip to the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tours. I've been before but it was great to go again with all my friends. The studios are a must for all fans of the franchise and I would highly recommend going. The first part of the tour has lots of the props and set that was really used in the films such as the Gryffindor common room, the Great Hall, Dumbledore's office and all the portraits on the wall. Don't miss the green screen area where you can ride a broomstick and the flying car!

The backlot contains the Privet Drive set, the Hogwarts bridge and the Knight Bus. There is also a stall selling Butterbeer, which is a sweet soft drink with a delicious foam.

The second part is about the technical side, you can see how they create all the creatures. Diagon Alley is also in this part which is just amazing. As it's the same set they used in the film it feels like you are actually part of that world! My favourite part is the model Hogwarts that they used for all the panning shots. It doesn't take away any of the magic, in fact it looks even more magical!

The shop is amazing, it's huge and packed full of awesome merchandise. It is really expensive though so I just bought a poster.

I had an amazing day and I would highly recommend going!

See you soon!

Little Mix Concert

Hello!

My exams are all over now so I can blog a lot more now! Look forward to better and more frequent posts in the coming summer weeks!

On Friday night I went to see Little Mix at Westonbirt Aboretum with my best friends. We were lucky to have amazing weather and got so close to the stage. I was expecting there would be lots of girls our age and there were but the majority were 9-10 year old girls!

Little Mix were amazing! The choreography was so slick and complicated and their singing was wonderful. They have honestly improved so much as artists over the past few years and can truly put on a great show. The dancing was just as much part of their act as the singing. They sang most of the songs of their new album Salute, as well as favourites like Wings and DNA. I was actually surprised at how many of them I knew and could sing along to. The atmosphere was awesome and we were all shouting the lyrics and dancing by the end of the night!

The girls are so beautiful and talented, I can't wait to see them continue to make great music in the future! I had an amazing night.

See you soon!

Life Update

Hello!

Just an update post today as I am in the middle of my end of year exams and have absolutely no time or patience to do a complicated post. So here's some of the things I've been doing recently.

Drama
Recently I was in a play called Blue Remembered Hills as part of my drama GCSE course. I played Audrey and it went really well. I'm so proud of how hard our group worked. Another play I'm about to perform is the Importance of being Earnest where I play Reverend Chasuble! In a few weeks I'm doing my Grade 6 LAMDA exam; I'm doing two monologues, one from Twelfth Night and one from the Rise and Fall of Little Voice.

Exams
I'm currently in the middle of exams week! They aren't GCSEs or anything but I've still had to work really hard recently. I'm doing all the normal exams, Biology, Maths, Physics, English etc plus RE, Drama, Mandarin, Latin and History.

Random Favourites
I've been loving 5 Seconds of Summer recently, especially as their new EP, Don't Stop, has just come out! My favourite song of their's is Try Hard which is on the new EP! I've also been loving Connor Franta's YouTube videos, they never fail to put a smile on my face and always cheer me up! His twitter (@connorfranta) is also awesome so go check that out!

That's it for today!

Style Crush - Kylie Jenner

Hello!

Today I have a fashion post for you! Kylie Jenner, sister of Kendall Jenner and half sister to the Kardashians, is an American teenager living in LA. She's only 16 and already has millions of followers on Twitter and Instagram and lot's of celebrity friends like Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith. Today we'll be looking at her flawless style so let's get into it!

First of all, we should all acknowledge her hair. Her textured ombre bob is so on trend right now, I'm not sure about the blonde she had but the blue is gorgeous!

Kylie has amazing street style, even on casual days. She loves her band tee shirts and sunglasses, as you can see. I especially love the outfit on the far right, this look is so simple, proving that sometimes less is more. LA has some of the best street style around (see Vanessa Hudgens) and Kylie is no exception!

Kylie gets to go to some amazing red carpet events like film premieres or award ceremonies. I'm not too sure about the grey dress, it doesn't look like it fits well and the middle white dress looks like she forgot to put on her dress. However I love the crop top and pencil skirt combo on the right, it's cute and youthful; the nude heels are a nice touch.

This isn't really her style but the girl knows how to take a good picture of herself. Her selfie game is strong.

So that's about it for today! Sorry I didn't put a post up during the week, but hopefully there will be another one up on Sunday!

Fangirls

Hello!

Thought I'd share a few views here today, not something I normally do as I'm not very opinionated. But I like to think I'm pretty educated on internet culture and all that. I understand the "fangirl mindset" as I've been there myself so I'd just like to clear up a few things regarding obsessions.

When you type "fangirl" into Google the definition they give is "a female fan, especially one who is obsessive about comics, film, music, or science fiction". Obsessive is the key word here, one which non-fangirls often take to be a negative quality. I hate it when someone uses obsessed as an insult. I prefer the word passionate! To be passionate about something is generally a good thing, a desirable quality. Fangirls care deeply about their idols and admire them. When you put it that way doesn't it sound like a good thing?

I speak as an ex Les Miserables fangirl, I would get very excited when watching the film and I just about died when one of the cast replied to my tweet. Now I've grown out of that particular fandom but I am still a fangirl to some extent, I get excited when my idols release a video/song/film/etc. While I do regret some of my cringey tweets regarding Les Mis, I don't regret loving it. In fact I think fangirling (getting very excited by something fandom related) is a great thing, as it is makes so many teenagers happy. Some may mock us for being very happy about things which others take for granted like films and music but as pretentious as it may sound, I think being a fangirl has made me appreciate things more and notice the beauty in things more.

I don't have a problem with idolizing people, this has been around for years and young people will always look up to musicians/actors/youtubers/etc. To those who protest against being idolized, it's not supposed to be a burden, it should be a responsibility that people are proud to hold. Those being idolized have an amazing opportunity to make a positive difference and use their role model status for good! Having a role model is a wonderful thing and can sometimes get confused with being "obsessed".

So I hope that cleared up some misconceptions about fangirls. To summarise fangirls are passionate not obsessive, caring and being happy for your idols is a good quality and it's good to have role models who take their position seriously!

My Week 26-30th May

Hello!

Last week was my half term holiday and despite all the revision and homework I had to do, I did a few cool things. So here's a summary of my week!

Monday
On Monday I went to Birmingham to see One Man Two Guvnors, which was amazing. It was absolutely hilarious and my family loved it! We ate at Jamie's Italian where I had a delicious steak and chips, it was the best steak I've ever had so I highly recommend going there! I also visited the Bull Ring for the first time.

Tuesday
Tuesday night I went to the cinema with my friends to see Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. It's part of the National Theatre Live screenings where you can watch top London plays from your local cinema. We actually saw the play in London with my drama class but we really wanted to see it again!

Wednesday and Thursday
I just revised on these days. Well I tried to, read my last blog post!

Friday
I went into town with my friends, I bought some daisy print shorts and the Breakfast at Tiffany's dvd.

Here are some of the outfits I wore!

Well that's about it! Let me know what you did over the holidays!

See you soon!
