Cirencester Hare Festival

My young cousins are staying over for the week so we decided to see the Cirencester Hare Festival with them! There have been 50 hares dotted in and around Cirencester for the last few months, all decorated by various artists. The hare is special to Cirencester because of the mosaic on display at the Corinium museum, from when it was an important Roman town. The mosaic shows a single hare in the center of swirling Roman patterns and shapes.

We used the map available from the museum to try and find as many as we could. They were all beautifully decorated, with all sorts of different patterns and outfits. Most were 5 foot but there were also some little ones in shop windows. There was even one named Harriet! Afterwards we stopped in the park for a picnic in the rain and went to a bakery for cakes.

What do you think? Do they have similar things where you live?  I know they have done similar things in Bristol with gorillas and Gromits (as in Wallace and Gromit).

See you soon!
